4Sight will find and display, move, copy, or delete all of the files in any
directory/subdirectory that meet the specs that you put into its menu. You may
select up to 10 file types and 2 search strings, plus date and size ranges.
You can also edit files by calling an editor or you can call a viewer to look
at files such as GIF or BMP files.
NEW IN VERSION 3.0 - SORTED FILES. All levels of subdirectories are now sorted
alphabetically by directory name. Files are sorted by file name, but see below.
Don't remember where a file is? 4Sight can tell you. Don't remember the name of
a file, but know that it contains the word "Report"? 4Sight can find all of
the files that include "Report" or any other word or phrase. Want to get rid
of those BAK files scattered all over your hard disk? 4Sight can show them to
you, then delete any or all of them. Or you can move or copy files to another
directory or copy them to a floppy.
4Sight can be especially useful to a programmer. You can find every occurrence
of one or two variables in all of your files. You can highlight all of the IFs
and ENDIFs or PUSHes and POPs in a program to look for mismatches. After you
find all of the files that contain either or both of the search strings, you
can search for a third string. That can be very useful.
These are only a few of the things that 4Sight can do. Play with it for a while
and you'll find many more.
4Sight needs a 386 or later and a color monitor.
Planned upgrades:
Soon, multiple directories.
THE FOLLOWING BONUS FEATURES ARE AVAILABLE TO REGISTERED USERS ONLY:
The Mapper can display a catalog of all of the directories on a disk that meet
your selection criteria, and tell you how big they are and how many files they
contain. You can point to a directory, press ENTER, then F5 and look at the
files in that directory.
Files are normally sorted by name, but if you are a registered user you can
press ALT-F5 from the menu and select other options. The option you select
will remain in effect until you leave 4sight or press ALT-F5 again and change
it. Note that sorting is done by subdirectory. i.e. it starts over with each
new subdirectory.
The available options are:
0 - Do not sort.
1 - Sort by name.
2 - Sort by extension.
3 - Sort by date.
4 - Sort by size.
Reverse - Y = Sort in reverse order. N = forward sort.
Names will always be displayed in A-Z order except when option 1 with
Reverse = Y is selected.
Any other number - no change.
